Queen of Sheba is a must read! Mattie draws you into this beautiful story that you can't put down and don't want to end. I found my own heart longing more for Jehovah and His unfailing love.
This was a wonderful riveting page turner illuminating a historical figure that has long fascinated me. I sensed the nearness of God as I read and enjoyed how the author wove scripture throughout. Well done Mattie Hon!
Queen of Sheba is a historical fiction book depicting the journey of the queen from what is now Ethiopia to Jerusalem. The physical journey is primarily manifest through the emotional, spiritual and ideological transformation of the queen. This book is not only educational, but makes the hardships of the queen relative to the world we live in. Her faith and courage are timeless qualities which continue to encourage us even though the world is now much different. I highly recommend this book and know the Queen of Sheba's journey will transform YOU!
From the first page to the last, this book is filled with insight, intrigue and interest to lead you to a new understanding of the depth of the mysterious Biblical character. Who was she and what was her relationship to the wisest man in the world, King Solomon. If you're like me and have ever wondered about the answers to these questions, this book will share Mattie's fictional account and how she imagined the relationship. However, Mattie is more than just a great fiction writer, she is a woman who didn't just sit and wonder about the answers to her questions and yours, she has done extensive research. The book has an aspect of fact combined with educated guesses. A must read for anyone who loves a good story. Is it truth or fiction? To me it is definitely fiction based on truth. But what do you think?
I love historical fiction, and this book by Mattie did not disappoint. It is full of details of what life must have been like for those living in the day of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, and also includes some fascinating additional recent archaeological finds in her afterward. The story is riveting as well as thought provoking. But what I love above all else is that this book is full of bits of wisdom that apply to our lives even today. On page 39 a brief conversation was like a word of counsel to me in a current day relationship, "Always remember, my love, that you need not know the answers for her. Your love for her is your gift. You are a strength and constant reminder to her that she is not alone." And of course the words of Solomon are full of wisdom, and many are taken straight out of the scriptures. Mattie has also described quite poignantly the deep intimate delight found in experiencing the presence of a powerful yet loving God in a way that only someone who has walked in living faith can do. This is a book you can safely throw yourself into whole-heartedly without reservation. Expect to be blessed!
Mattie Hon has written a legondary classic love story. She masterfully combines her biblical and historic knowledge with her understanding of humanity around the characters Queen of Sheba, King Solomon and his God Jehovah. The Queen's complicated character is well developed. Living in the pagan world of Sheba she rules over a wealthy land. Gradually news of King Solomon and more importantly the God Jehovah fill her soul with only the Joy that comes from the Lord. The author then creatively pulls the King & Queen together in Jerusalem after an adventure filled caravan journey across the desert. No doubt the bible chapter "Song of Solomon" was written for His Queen of Sheba".
Reading this book was truly inspiring.
